There was one test that we were not worried about that she did not pass, the MRI.Evidently, she has had multiple strokes over the years, and they believe that they would do more harm to her than good. They made her a small portion of eggs with some radioactive material in it, and then they took "pictures" over the course of about 4 hours. It was not a difficult test for her, but it was an important test. Evidently this is the last test that will effect the outcome of the evaluation. We have been blessed with very nice doctors, nurses and technicians. The test that was scheduled for 9:00 this morning had to be rescheduled because they did not let mom know that she should not eat. At first I was mad. Then I realized that this could be God's hand, and after having some people pray, I relaxed and let God work. Funny how sometimes we want to do it for Him, and He just wants us to let Him have it. It started at 9:30 am in the NuclearScience Lab for a test that would monitor the function of her kidneys. They injected a radioactive substance into her veins and tested herover the course of three hours. Thank you to those who were prayingtoday. Evidently they had to draw blood at exact times, and the firstone was very close to being missed because they were unable to getmom's port (a permanent port added to an artery in her chest) to workto draw blood. Then this afternoon, mom received a call from Duke... She was able to record some of it so that I could hear it. The one resounding phrase was "you should go ahead and get started on the fund raising." She must have said it five or six times, and every time she said it, my heart rang with joy!!! Mom had a day in radiology, from CT scan to barium swallow (which she did not like) to an ultrasound of her neck looking at the carotid artery. I don’t know when we will hear those results. The ultrasound of the artery would confirm or deny what the doctor heard yesterday in mom’s neck.We also met with the social worker, and I’m really glad I was here this week. She was very happy to see both dad and I. In terms of relocation, she said prepare for the worst.
